Be Yourself

This Layout of Angelena is so sweet…I cut around the gorgeous design on the Websters Pages Patterned Paper and used a button in the center with a bee also cut from Websters Pages paper.

The grungeboard bird was first covered in Making Memories patterned paper and then it was given a spray of Olive Vine Glimmer Mist which is available in the BAD GIRLS STORE.

The crystal brads, dimensional stickers, naked charm,  and journaling card are in the Add On Kit: Artist’s Atelier.

The Crystal frame is in the Add On Kit: Parlor Princess.

Sweeter

To create the border for this Layout I cut around the Jenni Bowlin Paper and then mounted it on currogated cardboard.

To create the Grungeboard bird, I first gave it a bottom coat of the paint in the Add On Kit Artist’s Atelier. I also mixed the paint with the Glaze medium in the same kit to give the paint more dimension.  I then added a thick layer of crackle medium and then gave it a top coat of green paint. For the grungeboard title, the bottom coat is with green paint and the top coat is with the paint in the add on kit. I then added Gold Glimmer Mist which can be found in the Bad Girls Store, and then the finishing touch is a light swipe with a Brown Staz On Ink Pad. I then sanded lightly so you can see the green underneath.

As you can see, I recycled again using the fabulous artwork on the Grungeboard packaging!!!

The crystal swirl, dimensional stickers, and glitter brad is from the Add On kit: Artist’s Atelier.

The Ribbon Trim is from the Add On Kit: Parlor Princess.

New Pink Shoes

To make this Layout really special and stay with the soft feel, I gave the Grungeboard bird a dressing of paper from Websters Pages. I also outlined the script lettering with a gold gel pen to give it a little more sparkle. I united the look of the Layout by also tracing around the scallops with gold. I cut out  the Jeni Bowlin letters and mounted them on currogated cardboard and then used pop dots to make the title stand out. The pink envelope is from the Add On Kit “Parlor Princess” and by cutting a slit in the top of it, I inserted the hidden journaling, and topped it off with an Antique Cream Index Tab from the Add On Kit “Artist’s Atelier”. The journal strip “what is desirable” is my way of recycling and staying chic at the same time…it is from the Tim Holtz Grungeboard packaging…how sweet is that?

Not in Kit: Pink Swarovski Crystals, Baby Blue Cardstock

Thoughts

I created this mini book with recycled currogated cardboard for the front and back covers. I punched holes in all pages, top and bottom with my Cropodile Big Bite, which will be BAD GIRLS Product of the Month this month (coming soon!). I then threaded ribbon through all pages and tied in a pretty bow in the front. The front and back cover have paint on them from the Add On Kit “Artist’s Atelier”. The Prima Crystal frame, the Ribbon, the Papyrus Card,  and the Journaling Spots that are sewed to all the inner pages are from the Add On Kits: Artist’s Atelier and Parlor Princess.

Tracie is on vacation this month

Good times:
I LOVE my local crop-girls! We have so much fun together and I feel fortunate to call them my friends and that I'm able to share my passion with such great and warmhearted gals. Unfortunately we never manage to gather *everybody* together at the same time, theres always one or two different people missing from such events, sniff, so expect more such photos/layouts from me soon to try get everybody "in". :)

I added stinkles to the flower to make it more shimmery - turned out quite pretty! And I love the labelholder! :)

Items not in the kit: BLing, stickles, MM pad (although one of the addons contains this design in green afaik).

Grow:
My oldest niece is growing so fast!! And like most young women (or should I say tweens soon turning into a teen) she's curious about makeup and loves to play with it whenever her mom isn't around haha. I loved the butterflies- such a great metaphor for a young girl growing...I sprayed them with glimmer mist (gold and hm, can't really recall what red spray I used) and inked/painted the edges w/chalk/gold paint. Also used my Tim Holtz hammer on two of the butterflies, love grungeboard! :) And the Jenni Bowlin rubons is to die for!! So elegant and such a great accessorie to any layout or card :)

Items not in the kit: Glimmer Mist, Tim Holtz texture-hammer, paint, datestamp

Elevkveld:
My son having his first "gathering" at school and really really looking forward to it :)
Used lots of 3d foam for this one and sprayed the alphas in the grungeboard w/a mix of patina&robins egg blue and traced the outlines w/a pen.

Items not in the kit: crepe-ribbon from the November-kit, glimmer mist and MM alphas.

Winterbox:
I made several of these for Christmas and I figured the colors of this January-kit would make a beautiful winter-cookie-box  for the New Year Party hostess. Just take an empty can (this is a Prima-can) and wrap it up with something pretty :)

Items not in the kit: Snowflake, prima-flower and bling.

Layout 1: Sweet Brothers
I usually do a lot more detailed work to my layouts but I just adore this paper! I couldn't cover it up! I placed pieces of paper behind some of the background paper to make it look layered. Not in kit-brown ribbon.

Layout 2: Baby
I adore baby photos-isn't she cute? I painted all of the grungeboard elements with gold paint-it looks so rich and soft at the same time.
Layering with flowers and a cute gold crown on the baby's photo.

Layout 3: No Regrets
This is the challenge layout for the month-New Year's resolutions. I decided to make a change and become a better person. I try not to have any regrets. I started with little things and worked my way up. It is my continuing resolution for 2009!

Layout 4: 2 Of A Kind
A sweet photo of Bryan and Kate-it says everything about their friendship. I stitched and sewed, layered the flowers which I folded for a 3D effect. Not in the kit-bling

Project
A sweet card that could be used for a couple of different purposes. I love sewing on cards! I used a rub-on as my sentiment and decorated with flowers. Then added brackets to frame in the words.

Always and Forever
I loved the look of the lined paper from Jeni Bowlin and I wanted to keep the colors light to reflect the mood of the papers. The journaling on the transparency was painted at the back with white paint to help the letters become more visible.

Additional Materials: K and Co Journaling Overlays, Paint and button

Adventure
The Tim Holtz Grungeboard works so well with layering of art supplies. I first painted the butterflies with gold paint, then applied two tones of pigment powders, next I embossed it using a white glitter powder, and finally added gold stickles to the edges.

Additional Materials: SEI paper, Buttons, and Burlap

I Love Tom
It's a good thing my daughter is only four years old and her love interest right now is "TOM" of Tom and Jerry Cartoons! The Daisy D's hinge had a beautiful texture and I wanted to bring it out so I rubbed brown stazon ink over the embossed pattern with my fingers.

Additional Materials: Velvet ribbon and lace, Basic Grey paper (bird), MME frame (cut in half to make a big photo corner)

Uncle Baby
This is a layout about my daughter and her 2nd degree uncle who is only a baby. Thus the title "Uncle Baby"

Additional Materials: Making Memories Ribbon

The challenge for this month was to create a layout about the one resolution we kept. Mine was to make an extra effort to stay in touch with friends both in real life and with the ones I met over the internet. This ATC card represents the first trade I ever made with my friend Celine Cochrane. She is a wonderful person and a talented artist and I am thankful to have met her through this hobby.

Layout 1 - Sisters
I kinda go crazy in the sewing departmentt here. My inspiration for this layout came from those ticket stubs. I want to make a layout entirely of the stubs and nothing much else. I know I'm weird but when I find an item I like, I just want to make a layout just with that item!
Everything is in the kit except for the alpha stickers (American Craft).

Layout 2 - Little Helper
I LOVE the Jenni Bowlin's ledger paper. For this layout, I kept everything neutral and very simple. I painted the Tim Holtz chipboard with 2 shades of acrylic paints, white and green (it looks yellow in the photo). I printed the title using my computer. Then, I went stapler crazy.

Layout 3 - Love Myself
This is my challenge layout. My new resolution for the year is to love myself and accept the way I am...irregardless of the size I may be. I'm currently in a "kraft cardstock mood", so bear with me. I love the rub-ons that came in this kit but wasn't too thrilled with the oval frames. So, I just cut it off.
Everything is from the kit except for the Kraft cardstock.

Layout 4 - Lily
I want to do a pretty layout and still keep it relatively simple.
Everything is from the kit.

Layout 5 - Christmas Ornament
This is relatively simple to make.  Using a circular shape to trace, make 9 circles and cut them out. Fold the circles in half and stack them on top of each other. Place a ribbon halfway through the stack of circles (between circle #4 and #5). Staple the stack together in the center. Using a glue dot, glue the top  and then alternately the bottom part of each paper.

The one Resolution I kept last year was to make myself to something, especially if my first thought was to hold back.  I never keep my resolutions so this was huge for me.  :)  The Beautiful Greens and Softness to this Kit was simply breathtaking to work with.  I used Silver and Gold Leafing Pens to outline the flowers and layered them.

The papers in this kit make any photo look its best!  The journaling under the photo is about my desire to travel, and the need to remember the beauty that surrounds me in my own little corner of the earth, and to not take it for granted.  I inked and painted the grungeboard.

The Jenni Bowlin Papers were so fun to mix and match together on this layout!  There are so many possibilities here.  The grungeboard is inked, chalked, and layered together.  The black ribbon is from my own stash.

I *hEaRt* my hubby's hands.  He takes such good care of our family.  He's always fixing everything for everyone, even strangers at times.  It seems he can't get away from it.  When I read the definition of "royalty" on the Jenni Bowlin Rub On, I knew just what photo I wanted to use about the King of our lil' kingdom. ;)  I used a gold leafing pen on the grungeboard letters.

I got a little crazy with this.  I was so inspired by a Medieval leather album I found online, that I wanted to create my own using nothing but grungeboard.  The Nature Grungeboard pieces in this kit are perfect with this album, and so are the colors of the papers and flowers.  The large solid grunge board pieces and knob are from my own stash.

Layout 1- 2008 Year in Review
Each year I try to do a layout that encapsules the entire year. Now 12 pictures is hard to fit onto one layout, so I print  a small 1 inch square photo for each month and print them out in strips. You can adjust the size of photo to suit your needs. I adore this Jenni Bowlin diecut paper and followed my last years year in review layout design. A simple and easy way to highlight all of those special moments.

Products Used- Jan main kit but Making Memories alphas from my stash

Layout 2- Know This
Webster's Pages paper is near and dear to my heart. I love their vintage charm and Wendy did such a great job choosing some fantastic embellishments to go with the papers. I used a combination of the January main kit with some left overs from the December main kit. Included in this months kit is Tim Holtz Grungeboard. This was the first time playing with it. I love the texture and how it absorbs paint so easily. The smell I could do without LOL.

Products Used- Jan main kit plus receipt and Jenni Bowlin stickers from December main kit
Jenni Bowlin die cut and Webster's Pages ribbon from my stash

Layout 3- Capture Time
Almost 3 years ago our family lost my aunt to brain cancer. This time of year is especially hard for my cousins and every year I do a layout commemorating my aunt. This photo was taken just 2 months before my aunt died and we hold this photo shoot near and dear to our hearts. I think the Webster's Pages paper captures my sentiment and conveys feeling so well.

Products Used- Jan Main kit plus Webster's Pages paper and journaling cards from my stash

Layout 4- Resolve
Wendy challenged us to scrap about resolutions kept. Normally I am just too lazy to even set any, so I haven't really kept any LOL. BUT this year I resolve to not be taken for granted and in turn to not take the people I love for granted.

Products Used- Jan Main kit plus flower brad from stash

Project- Bird Nest Decoration
I have really been into bird's nests lately for some reason. I thought that the adorable flying birdie from the Tim Holtz grungeboard needed his own home. So I purchased a little nest for him at my local craft store, made him a little bed with some spanish moss and some ribbon from this month's kit and then added a mixture of Pearl Ex pigment to some glittery Mod Podge to paint the bird. I added some rub ons over the top to give him a little charm.

Layout 1 – Patience

My layout for Wendy’s challenge; “The one resolution you kept”. OK so this is more of an ongoing resolution, and is also my word for 2009!

A huge fan of Jeni Bowlin papers and knick knacks, so this month’s kit was just perfect for me. Love all the soft palette of greens, a great calming colour also, which works well with my word for 2009. I used strips of paper and my new Fiskars  border punch, scattered flowers and butterflies on my page and used Tim Holtz distressed inks and Glimmer Mist on the grunge board. I cut my title form the JB paper.

Additional supplies : Glimmer Mist and Distressed inks. Making Memories mini alpha

Layout 2 – Throw

Photo’s of Izzy last autumn playing with the leaves. I used the Prima journaling pad form a previous kit to add a splash of pink to bring out the colours in Izzy’s clothes. A simple layering layout, I added texture with the grungeboard and used the leaves to continue the leaf throwing in the photo. I used a large grunge board leaf to add my title on. I used Tim Holtz distressed stickles straight onto the grunge board. A scattering of flowers and buttons finish this layout off.

Additional Supplies : Glimmer Mist, Distressed ink and stickles. Journaling pad from previous kit

Layout 3 – Beauty

A simple portrait of Izzy in subtle cream against a backdrop of nature, calls for a simple layout using subtle colours. I love the JB shaped paper so much, I traced around some cardstock for this layout. I distressed with inks and sandpaper the edges of the cardstock and outlined the edges of the paper. I made a simple cluster of embellishments and used a touch of the ribbon to pick up the one blue flower in the photo. I love the flowers in this grungeboard collection, and they make an appearance on this layout. I added a white stickles blob in the centre of the grungeboard.

Additional Supplies : Glimmer Mist, Inks and MM mini alphabet

Layout 4 – 25th December

Not the usual colours you would choose for a Christmas layout, but my photos suited this paper so well that I took at the table on Christmas Day. I designed this layout to cluster at the bottom of the page. I cut out some of the design from the Websters Page paper, a really gorgeous classic scroll. Embellished with the JB ticket, gold crown, flowers and buttons.

Additional supplies : MM mini alphabet, Mellisa Francis paper tag

Project – Heritage book

I used and old Junkitz accordion album I have had sitting a round the house for years, to hold heritage photos of my family “The Wilmots”. I have covered the front with left over papers, and bits from previous kits. The inside will hold photos of my Dads family. The mini book is held together with some wide brown gingham ribbon.

Additional Supplies : Junkitz accordion album, gingham ribbon

The Fat Came Back (Challenge)

I am a great goal setter and achiever, but the one goal I have yet to achieve is conquering my lifelong struggle with my weight.

I put a line of different sized buttons down the center of the layout for balance.  I then used the ticket to write a few short words to support my title and journaling.

Orange Birthday

My favorite color has always been orange. This past birthday I received many orange gifts and this layout documents the happiness.

I first inked the grungeboard with a walnut inkpad and then brushed it lightly with white acrylic paint.  Using a circle punch I created a circular embellishment for my layout by punching some of my patterned paper.

Lo 1: Inner Peace

Added Products: Bazzill Basics: cardstock; Rub-on: Creative Café; Ranger: Stickels

Write up: For this months challenge I decided to pick Inner peace for my theme. I really enjoyed this kit. For this layout I took 3 of the pattern papers and cut them all up. Layering two of them with Brown cardstock and one I cut into small circles.

Lo 2: This mother of 4

Products: Bazzill Basics: Cardstock; Making Memories: Paint & stickers; American Crafts: Ribbon

Write up: To added texture I sewed down my title. And I used an eyelet to hold down my tag. Adding names next to the photos can add to the layout as well.

Lo 3: I missed you

Products: Unity Stamps: stamp; Bazzill Basics: cardstock; K&Company: Brads

Write up:  This layout was all about layering. To make my title I cut out the letter from the pattern paper. Adding ribbon, buttons, flowers and brads give it a finishing touch.

Project: Stop and smell the flowers

Products: Wood block; Making Memories: Paint; Ranger: Crackle paint

Write up: I wanted to do something fun and different for this mini album. I took a wood block and nailed my hinges to the wood. Then with adhesive I added the paper to the inside.
